A Look Into My World…

My Story

I was born in Texas but moved early in my life to Louisiana. I was raised as a farmer’s daughter. I grew up doing all those stereotypical things a girl on the farm does. I had strays for pets. I was a card-carrying member of 4-H. I showed livestock, entered cooking contests, and sewing classes. I rode the back roads and listened to country music. I was at the dinner table every night and in church every Sunday.
I loved school.
I think Dad planned it that way. If I wasn’t in school, he would find something for me to do. So when an opportunity to attend a boarding school for honor students came up, I took it. I attended Louisiana School for Math, Sciences, and the Arts during my junior and senior years of high school. Honestly, it was one of the greatest experiences of my life.
I moved on to Louisiana Tech for my bachelor’s of science. For some reason I’m still unclear on, I raced through college. I graduated with my teaching degree at twenty. I taught Family and Consumer Sciences to high school kids, and I LOVED it. I would, however, like to apologize to the kids from those first couple of years. There was a definite learning curve, and those kids got the short end of that stick.
I met the love of my life online before online dating was even a “thing.” I thank God every day for my Irish angel. In 2010, he moved to the United States. We moved to Tennessee to be closer to my family, which is where we still live today.
